Plan Summary:
Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) is committed to collaborating with the Cities of Oakland, Berkeley and Emeryville (referred hereafter as Cities) to reduce GHG emissions through an integrated, comprehensive approach to implementing energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy and green workforce development. PG&E will offer its expertise and resources across a broad array of programs to help the Cities pursue a more sustainable energy future. PG&E's Partnership Plan proposal includes:
- Integrated Resource Planning to reduce GHG emissions and increase use of renewable energy in the cities. PG&E is committed to collaborating with the Cities on the development of a strategic implementation plan that would include benchmarks, an action plan for each strategy, and determination of metrics to assess progress and success.
- Locally Managed Integrated Demand Sid Management programs for municipal facilities, businesses and residents to help reduce energy usage and/or manage peak demand in an efficient and cost effective way.
- Renewable Energy, Self Generation Programs and Greenhouse Gas Offsets programs that provide options for residents and businesses to pursue renewable energy and offset greenhouse gas emissions. This collaboration would also seek to develop innovative planning and financial models for implementation of longer-term and more sustainable energy efficiency measures and renewable energy or distributed generation technologies
- Transportation programs to help government, businesses and residents understand, evaluate. and implement clean air vehicle technologies.
- Green Energy Career Pathways identifying ways that PG&E can st~port the efforts of the East Bay Green Corridor and Green Academy to ensure that local residents benefit from market transformations occi'niug as California aligns with AB32 and Climate Protection goals.
In addition. PG&E expects that this collaboration will generate other ideas that will
increase the energy efficiency and environmental sustainability of the Cities. We look
forward to further discussions to identify opportunities to develop innovative approaches
and create partnership models that can be replicated in other communities.
