Grassroots Fundraising Associate

Quaarter-time Organizer

Local Clean Energy Alliance(LCEA) is a Bay Area-based energy advocacy organization working at the local, state, and national level to promote a clean energy future through the development and democratization of local renewable energy resources. We seek a motivated and talented part-time Grassroots Fundraising Associate, who is passionate about social justice, to engage our community in building the movement for community ownership and control of energy, and to help us fund this critical climate justice work.

The position pays a salary commensurate with experience and requires an average of 10 hours per week. It is based in Oakland and supervised by the LCEA Coordinator.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Compose and send regular email communications to LCEA members, supporters, and others via Network for Good, LCEA’s donor base management and communications platform, approximately 1-3 times per month
  • Coordinate and lead LCEA’s spring and year-end fundraising campaigns, including composing fundraising pitches; coordinating staff, steering committee, and volunteer participants in soliciting contributions and following up with donors
  • Coordinate fundraising house parties 1-3 times per year
  • Coordinate large donor cultivation and stewardship
  • Manage database of LCEA donors and contacts on Network for Good platform
  • Provide support for other fundraising initiatives, as needed

Other duties, as time allows:

  • Engage with the community on phone and in-person at events on behalf of LCEA.
  • Assist with social networking, outreach tasks, and event organizing, as needed 
  • Provide timely updates to the LCEA web site, as needed

Qualifications:

  • A passion for social justice and the climate justice mission of the LCEA.
  • Experience in a collective work environment
  • Available 10 hours/week for a minimum of 6 months; preferred ability to start by mid-March
  • Good technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, databases, web content management systems (preferably Drupal), and social networking platforms.  
  • Responsible, very organized, detail-oriented, energetic, and creative!
  • Good written and verbal communication and people skills, in-person and on the phone.  
  • Nonprofit fundraising and advocacy experience a plus
